Hey, everyone! I have officially been eating clean now for 1 week! In that time, I’ve already gotten 2 backcountry hunts under my belt as well. For the first 6 days I’ve gotta admit, things were sluggish. Really in terms of my energy levels. I felt so dragged down as my body went through sugar withdrawals. It’s pretty crazy, but my body had to essentially relearn how to harness energy that wasn’t coming from sugar. I never realized how dependent I was on it, until I took it away.

Now, though…….I feel great! What was really eye opening to me was on my recent overnight bear hunt that I did. The hike into my camp is about 4 1/2 miles or so and it is all uphill. After eating clean for the first week, I slammed that trail out and got to camp quicker that I have ever done in the past. My muscles in my legs just felt like they had a ton of gas in the tank and weren’t stopping for anything. The same happened on the way back to the truck. Quickest I’ve ever hiked it back. Pretty awesome.

What I’ve Noticed So Far

So, a few things that I’ve noticed up to this point. First is my weight. I started this at 187 pounds. As I sit here and type this, I am 181 pounds. That is just after 1 week. I don’t feel like I am starving myself at all and am not counting any calories. When I am hungry, I eat until I am full, end of story. Another thing that I noticed was that I started to break out a bit on my face. Just a few pimples here and there. This was happening because of going through a sort of detox I am assuming. Also, since going on this diet, I find myself drinking way more water than before. If I don’t, I feel it.

Here is an Example of what I’ve been eating at home:

  • Breakfast – two eggs on Ezekiel bread with crushed avocado, apple with peanut butter
  • Snacks – Baby carrots, Epic Venison Bars, Smoothies
  • Lunch – Taco bowl(brown rice, black beans, peppers, onions, avocado, steak/other protein
  • Dinner – Venison steak, organic veggies, organic red potatoes

Boom!
