Man! Time has been flying by! I can’t believe I am already 2 weeks into this clean eating journey. It has been sort of refreshing to be forced to eat different foods than we are used to and in doing so, I believe that has given us(wifey and I) more appreciation for certain foods. It’s also been pretty eye opening as to how much sugar really is out there and in how many places. Things that you would never guess had sugar in them have it. Looking back on my diet before this, I realized that I was literally eating sugar every single meal and snack of the day! So, at 2 weeks clean, how’s it going?

Energy Levels

So, at the start of this, I was definitely “bonking” pretty hard with sugar withdrawals. It took about 6 days for me to really start to feel better and a few more for me to feel completely normal again. Getting up in the morning was even harder than before when going through this stage of detox. I’d feel groggy pretty much the whole day and craved coffee throughout all of it. Now, though? Different story.

At 2 weeks in, I can say that there is no more “bonking” going on. My energy level seems consistent throughout the day and I’m not really getting sugar cravings. If I do get a hankering for something sweet, I’ll just eat some fruit or something of that nature.

Weight Loss

In the beginning, my wife and I didn’t set off to do this diet in hopes of losing weight. However, the more time that goes on, the more we are realizing that weight loss is indeed a byproduct of clean eating. I am down 6 pounds from when we started this and my wife is down 3 pounds. We aren’t counting calories, keeping track of macros, or anything like that. We eat when we are hungry and until we are full. Which is what we did before all of this. The only difference is……no added sugars or preservatives. Interesting for sure.

Workouts

This is an area that I was worried about to be honest. Before this point, I was routinely taking supplements in the form of pre workout and post workout. Funny thing about those? SUGAR! Had to cut them out! Instead, what I’ve been doing is drinking a small cup of coffee before a workout. When I am done, I’ll guzzle down some coconut water, which is a natural way to replenish your electrolytes. Something my wife has been doing for post workout is actually drinking water with lemon and salt. This is also a natural way to replenish electrolytes. Pretty cool!

Half Way There!

Like I said above, I can’t believe it has already been 2 weeks. At this point, things feel pretty natural in terms of habit and what we are eating at home. It’s comfortable now. 2 more weeks to go and we will see where this experiment goes from there! Both my wife and I are anxious to see how we feel reintroducing sugar back into our diets. Of course we will do this in moderation. Thanks for following along and if you have any tips for clean eating life, drop them below!
