Fall in Arizona is one of my favorite times of the year. While most are keyed up on deer hunts around the month of October, I’m thinking bears. The weather is nice, the bears are fat, and it’s just a great time to be out in the hills looking for these big guys. October bear is where I cut my teeth as a bear hunter. It’s where a great deal of my love started for pursuing bears. This past October 2021 was incredible to say the least and I can’t wait to share it with you below. I made a film of this adventure called Endearment – A Bear Hunting Film. It encapsulates everything I love about fall bear hunting here in my home state, hence the name “Endearment.”

What’s Endearment About?

Josh Kirchner from Dialed in Hunter on a fall bear hunt in Arizona

In the film you’ll see me backpack solo into the remote backcountry of Arizona. From there, you’ll follow me right back out of that country and into a familiar place I know well. One I have much history with and one where I meet a great friend to join in on the hunt. There’s some running after bears, witnessing a poacher in action, and then making a dream come true in the end. Aside from killing probably the biggest bear I’ll ever kill, I’m filled with gratitude with the willingness of my friends. They helped me pack this bear out of a nasty area to say the least. It was a hunt that reminded me I won’t be able to do this stuff forever physically. So, I better enjoy it while I can. It was a true adventure hunt that I’ll talk about forever. One for the books.
