I can assure you, that couldn’t be farther from the truth with this unit. FoodSaver® GameSaver® really hit a home run on this little beauty of a machine. As an avid hunter who spends a ton of time in the field, my gear gets put through its fair share of abuse, so it’s important that said gear can handle that. This is an incredibly easy question to answer, if you are anything like me. I spend so much time out in the mountains chasing my bowhunting dreams, that I just can’t afford to skimp on my food preservation. It calms me to know that my harvest is in good hands after the endless miles put on my truck and boots. The thought of my hard earned protein going freezer burned, is not something I want to come to fruition. So, that is why. It is an insurance policy of sorts. By removing all of the air from touching your meat or fish, you are prolonging the very life of that protein. My experience with the unit was a pleasant one. I dig the more rugged construction, when compared to FoodSaver® models I have used in the past. Those were always great to me, but this one seems like it’s just ready to work its tail off for you. The carry handle has been super convenient and I see it definitely coming in handy for future use on the go. I can see myself bringing this straight to the lake and vac sealing fish right there on the spot. That will save me a ton of work that I would have to do once I got home. With this, I can take care of that stuff in the field, so the only thing I have to do when I do get home is load up my freezer.
A quick note about getting a proper seal with this and any vac sealing system. It is recommended that the meat be pre-frozen, before vacuum sealing. They say this so that the juices don’t come out of the fillet or steak when being vac sealed, which will compromise your seal. Personally, I see pre-freezing the meat to be rather cumbersome, so what I have started to do is wrapping the meat airtight with plastic wrap, then vac sealing. This will ensure a proper and sound seal.

A seed was planted within me, by my Father, of which I had no idea how much would grow and impact my life. In the end, we didn’t fill our tag, but that wasn’t important.
