OK! It has been two weeks since my dive into the Keto diet and I’m feeling pretty good. I still haven’t gotten to do a legit backpacking trip with this meal plan, but am planning to in the future. It will be interesting seeing how that mashes up and how I feel. If I feel anything like I do now, I think I will be totally fine. Can’t blame me for wondering though! In the beginning of this journey, I was pretty pumped on Keto. Since then though? Let’s just say that my overall thoughts on Keto have definitely changed.

So Much Butter

A Keto breakfast that Josh from Dialed in Hunter made

Right off the bat all of these meals were killer for me. I loved all of the eggs, bacon, avocado, butter, etc. It was something different that I never experienced. I ate all of this stuff prior, but not to this extent. That right there has proved to be the problem for me. A man can only handle so much butter and cheese! Some might disagree with me, but it’s just my honest opinion. I don’t think of eggs and bacon in the morning for breakfast. What sounds clutch to me is yogurt, granola, and fruit. That sounds refreshing to me. On the Keto diet, I can pretty much have none of that. Keto coffee was cool in the beginning, but then I just couldn’t handle all of the butter. Since then, I’ve stopped putting butter and started using coconut oil instead. That has been way better.

Still No Keto Flu

I am happy to say that I still haven’t gotten the Keto flu. Not sure if it is something that pops up in the beginning or not, but hoping that it never does! There is a small part of me wondering if it is because I am actually tracking my macros and hitting my goals. I’ve spoken to a few friends that didn’t do that and they ended up getting sick. If you’ve experienced different, I’d love to know down in the comments. I was told that MCT oil was essential to not getting the flu, so that has been in constant rotation for me each day. So far so good.

Change of Heart for Keto

Flat out being honest, I am not stoked that I’ve got 2 more weeks of the Keto Diet. In no way do I feel bad, tired, or ill. It’s just the food that I am not a crazy fan of. At times, I’ve felt like I was literally sweating butter. My skin felt oily and butter like. There are some foods that I like, but it isn’t a ton. Fat bombs have slowly grown on me, but eggs and cheese? It will probably be quite a while after I finish this that I will make eggs at home again. Some people absolutely love this diet and I get why. You can eat all of this tasty food and still feel great and lose weight. I’ve said before, it sometimes doesn’t feel like a diet. In my opinion though, Keto is not a one size fits all diet. On to week 3!
