New year, new bow! I just recently picked up the brand new for 2022 PSE EVO XF 33 and man, it’s a shooter. Each year that goes by, I am always curious how companies progress and how they can make what’s better even more better. Last year I shot the PSE Xpedite NXT and said more than once that it was my favorite bow. After spending the last few weeks with the new XF though, that statement might change to “one of my favorite bows.”

Why Did I Switch?

If the Xpedite NXT was my favorite bow, you’re probably wondering why I decided to switch in the first place. Well, the one downside of the Xpedite was the brace height. With a 5.5 inch brace height, it was a little touchy when it came to torque, particularly with broadheads. The positive end of that was it kept me honest and made me really pay attention to the details of my technique. It doesn’t change the fact though that it was slightly difficult to shoot at times. When in a hunting situation, things are rarely perfect and you don’t have time to think about ALL of the details.

The XF on the other hand has a 6.75 inch brace height. A much more forgiving design feature. So, that was really the main reason I wanted to switch. I decided early on this year that I wanted a bow that catered to forgiveness more than anything, but one that still had the power behind it to give me the speed I wanted. Yes, speed is indeed important to me.

Impressed

Traditionally, larger brace height bows, while as forgiving as they are, lack in the speed department. I was willing to give up a little heat for more forgiveness though. What blew me away is that this new XF is delivering the same speed as my Xpedite NXT was. Different brace height, same arrow, same speed. After swapping my old sight over to this new bow, I literally had ZERO pin adjustments to make because of the speed factor. So, it appears that I’m going to have my cake and eat it too with this new bow. Forgiveness AND the faster arrow I wanted.

Enjoy the Build and Setup Video Below! I’m excited to put this thing through the paces this year. Look forward to more videos on this bow in the future. From sighting in to bareshaft tuning and broadhead flight, I’ll be documenting it all and showing how I go about doing such things with a bow.
