You just got a new bow and you’re excited as ever. Already, you’ve been to the range and gotten it all sighted in. And now, it’s time to actually go hunting. We need to break in a new bow, and down below, I’m going to break down my process.
New bows require a break in period before they are trustworthy enough to bring in the field, especially on a demanding hunt like a backpack hunt. Screws come loose, strings settle, and when those things happen, things can go out of whack.
What I’m about to lay out for you is from real world experience and facing the negative consequences of not going through this process. It’s a prime example of “you live and learn.” And this right here is the pre-season protocol I have come to trust with every new bow I get.
